Beavers Bend Resort Park in Oklahoma will satisfy artists and their families, as well.

Beavers Bend Resort Park in Broken Bow, Oklahoma is a great place for artists to display their work, learn, camp, RV, swim, and more. Broken Bow Lake and Beavers Bend Resort Park average over one million visitors each year and offers visitors many opportunities for learning and entertainment.

Summer Art

When you first get to the park you will come upon the Forest Heritage Center. This large museum displays art and sculpture year round.

During the third weekend of June, the Forest Heritage Center opens its doors to artists young and old as it holds its annual Owa-Chito Art Show and Sale. This art show is held by the Oklahoma Art Counsel and draws artists from many nearby states such as Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas. It has categories for children to professional artists. The show and museum is free to view and entry fees are minimal.

The Owa-Chito Art Show and Sale is held during the Kiamichi Owa-Chito Festival of the Forest, which has a number of family events such as:

  • Children’s crafts and games
  • A spelling bee
  • A talent show
  • Miss Owa-Chito Beauty Pageants
  • A bass tournament
  • Canoe races

Fall Art

In the fall, Beavers Bend Resort Park has its Beavers Bend Folk Festival and Craft Show. This show features turn of the century craft demonstrations,exhibits, folk music, and a petting zoo. Visitors can also enjoy hay rides through the beautiful Kiamichi Mountains’ fall foliage.

Fun All-Year-Round

Year-round, the resort offers beautiful campsites and cabins on the Mountain Fork River and the 14,000-acre Broken Bow Lake. Activities offered to visitors include miniature golf, arts and crafts classes, horse trail rides, paddleboats and bumper boats, canoes, jet skiing, golfing, tennis, and canoeing.

Visitors can also go hiking on the 16 miles of the David Boren Trails throughout the Quachita National Forest. Along the trails are beautiful streams, dazzling quarts formations, and history markers. The trails also contain information markers that teach hikers about local trees and vegetation.

The Beavers Bend Depot offers train rides through the forest for those who would rather take it easy. The train’s path carries visitors through areas used by soldiers in the Civil War and through the most heavily vegetated area in Oklahoma.
